Update: You'll now find the photos of all four stations at Photos of Dubai Metro in our gallery.
Over three days, starting with the opening day of the Dubai Metro, I took photos of four stations: Rashidiya (after Airport), Khalid Bin Al Waleed (Better known as BurJUman), Mall of the Emirates and Nakheel Harbor & Tower (Jumeirah Islands).
Just some weeks after the Middle East's first gigapixel print, we can proudly announce Middle East’s first multi-gigapixel photography today.
Showcasing the Dubai Creek in incredible detail of over 3 gigapixels which equals 300 times the resolution of common digital cameras it enables you to zoom in far enough to clearly read street signs and car number plates.
Middle East's first gigapixel print took place in Dubai at Epson's booth of this year's Sign and Graphics, which was held from 15th to 17th September.
Printing such a high resolution photo results in more details than your eyes can discover. You can easily read the street signs and number plates on the opposite of the creek, but you might want to take a magnifier to check finer details like the facial expression of pedestrians.
I came again to Bahrain yesterday, staying in my favorite place the Phoenecia Center Appartments.
It's rather windy and the air is full of sand and dust right now.
Amazing, my beloved open WiFi-Hotspot "SpeedtouchC41110" at the bus station in front of the Sea Shell Hotel is still there, so I can check out for mobile broadband offers from Vodafone here in Bahrain, as the 78 BD (around 150EUR) Batelco charges for the USB broadband adapter seemed me a little much.
Sure, it doesn't sound like "the next big thing", but after weeks of sporadicly trying to locate a store/dealer/supplier/whatever for paper rolls, I was almost hopeless to finally find a source. But today I took most of the day to search on the web and call around for paper rolls. And after a company that offers spiral/paper rolls on their website but hardly deny that they're producing such things, and another company where I got put through half a dozen people on the phone, I found a producing company in Sharjah which offer them for reasonable pricing,
Nice, so I should be able to start shipping prints soon.

We finally found a source for aluminum frames in Dubai. After visiting the Picasso Gallery, a frames store which got recommended to me to ask for aluminum frames, we just also entered the nearby Le Cadre, and voila, we stood in front of a very well sorted choice of nielsen aluminum frames.
I'm sitting in the plane to Bahrain right now. I was there in April and will now visit for a special person and some great shots for Middle East photo agencies.
While sitting in the Taxi to the Airport, I sent a message to a friend I met in Hamburg, she's the lead photo editor of a renowned publisher for tourist speciality publications. I wrote her, that I'm on the way to Bahrain, for shots for photo agencies.
She wrote back, that this is strange. She just thought of me, becuause she's doing a special about Dubai and Bahrain at this very moment. And provided me a list of locations and POIs (Points of interests) that would be nice if I could make some great shots of.
That's what I call "the universe keeps track". Well, what else could you say to explain such happenings?
While waiting for my flight to Bahrain at the Airport of Sharjah, we got informed to move from gate 6 to gate 4. While changing the gates, a girl came into my field of view. She weared an Abaya like all local girl here do, but it was adorned with big golden letters. Looking a little closer, it showed up it were the letters "Dior". Well, that's what I call market adaption!
If you're looking for someone doing the job perfectly, without flaws and thousand excuses afterwards, for why it's so different from well done, you've a hard time in the emirates.
So, I went through "hell" while looking for a printing company that will match my needs, expectations, and sense and understanding of quality and perfection.
But at the end it worked out fine for me, and I found a very fine printing press company with a very good sense of customer service and relations.
The first unexpected happening was the response time of only some hours and the highly professional quote.

After setting up Xaraya and working with it for some weeks now to get fürstleur.com up and running, I must say that Xaraya has jumped several steps ahead and is the ultimate CMS by extending the ideology of PostNuke.
